Here I’d like to share with you some useful links to websites and content that will amost certainly help you enjoy your Spanish learning. I tried to include as much local content as possible, so you’d better fasten your seatbelts for your AR Spanish journey.

As far as I know, there are only two good YT channels that deal with Rioplatense Spanish especifically:

But there are some local YT channels which I like. Remember that AUTHENTIC INPUT can be twice as good:

SUGGESTION – Don’t binge watch all these YT channel videos all at once. Instead, my suggestion is that you take time to explore them and then choose one you like and squeeze the most you can out of it before proceeding to the another. Remember, when we have too many options we can be overwhelmed. You can get a lot from a single YT channel.

Last but not least, if you are not particularly into the Argentinian accent (and even if you are), you’ll love THIS LIST of YouTube channels. It’s comprehensive and varied, but the best is that it only features YT channels with human generated subtitles, so you can rest assured what you get in the subs is what’s actually being said.

To my knowledge, both of these websites are accesible worldwide, and for FREE.

  • CINE.AR is a streaming platform of Argentinian films, with the latest and the classics.
  • CONT.AR is a similar concept, but it is oriented to TV series and also offers live streaming.

Remember the old days when you turned on the TV to actually watch whatever TV channels had to offer? For some time now, they’ve come to the online world. These are their YT channels:

Listening to the radio is still a thing for many people! If you are in the radio gang, you’ll enjoy exploring your options:

I don’t like newspapers much, but keeping up with  the local news works for some students.

All the podcasts on this list are 100% certified Argentinian Spanish podcasts:

And I’ve decided to include an exception by listing Bad Information, a podcast presented by Paige Nichols, another American that fell in love with Argentina. Love to listen to her takes on the country. Plus, she is bilingual and mixes English and Spamish here and there.

I wrote an article on dictionaries. You can find it HERE
  • El Diccionario Latinoamericano de la Lengua Español is a fantastic resource for slang terms, with lots of entries and frequent updates.
  • SpanishDict is a very comprehensive website, which offers students way more than a good dictionary. By creating a free account you’ll get access to awesome learning resources.
  • DEEPL is awesome. I don’t know a most accurate text translator than this. A must have bookmark to communicate in Spanish. Even when you wouldn’t be able to create the sentences for yourself, you can use Deepl to make sense of Spanish.
  • FORVO is a pronunciation dictionary. It can be useful when you want to compare different pronunciations for the same word in different countries.
  • El Diccionario Panhispánico de Dudas is a bit more advanced than the previous but very handy when you are scratching your head and trying to come to terms with a word.
  • El Diccionario de Partículas Discursivas del Español is incredibly powerful, as it gives you access to hundreds of discourse markers in context.
  • El Diccionario de la Real Academia Española is sometimes referred to as the most authoritative source of word definitions, but I’m not so sure about it.
  • Busuu is, IMO, the best app to complement your learning. It’s a good tool to take with you on your phone.
  • Porteño Spanish is an app for Iphone that will provide you with many examples of the Spanish spoken in Buenos Aires.

  • Lingopie is an awesome tool for language immersion. This link is an affiliate link.

In regards to Spanish grammar, there is one book in particular, which I find clear and comprehensive:

  • A new reference grammar of modern Spanish – John Butt

Also, if you are interested in reading my novel, either in English or Spanish, here are the links:

There are at least two browser extensions which you can’t do without:

  • Languagereactor – LR is plain awesome. It will allow you to watch dual subs videos on YouTube and Netflix.
  • Imtranslator – IT is another amazing extension. With it, you’ll be able to create interlinear texts.

I’ve only recently discovered Reddit, but there are three subs worth joining:

Italki is a platform where you can learn any language under the sun from native tutors. This is a referral link. If you use this link, you and I will get 5 USD in credits after you spend 20 USD.

Memrise will really help you to increase and revise vocabulary in a fun and effective way.

Kwiziq is another online location worth visiting. Loads of  resources and, something I particularly like, it lets you explore your ‘Spanish Brainmap’.

Mezzoguild offers and extraordinary list of themed resources.

Lingopie* is a web-based software which provides users with television shows and movies combined with interactive language-learning tools.

*This is an affiliate link, which means I get a comission if you purchase any of the courses following my link.

Sol Salute is a treasure. Run by an American expat, it’s a comprehensive website, full of recommendations to discover Argentina’s culture, food and landscapes in full. Plus, she also addresses some of the AR Spanish intricacies.

Secrets of Buenos Aires is a cool site to learn more about ‘the Paris from the South’, as they call it.

Visit Argentina is a site that will give you a primer on all the plans you can make while you are here.

Lonely Planet, of course, always comes in handy. Lots of insights and ideas.

Wander Argentina is a website intended to help ‘travelers wander Argentina’.

Ser Argentino is a website written in Spanish which covers virtually every aspect of the Argentinian DNA: food, culture, history, landscapes, you name it.

Fluent in 3 months Benny Lewis is an Irish polyglot who ‘s put up a lot of dedication to this Spanish learning hub, as well as to sharing his journey as a language learner.

Olly Richards is a British language tutor I really like. The ideas Olly shares on his website are thorough and comprehensive.

Spanish Academy – The gold standard for Spanish learners. This website has you covered on any aspect of Spanish language. Follow my advice and take some time to explore the comprehensive articles they’ve created.

On Reddit’s Learn Spanish sub, I discovered this amazing Spotify playlists:

BOLUDLE is an ingenious adaptation of Wordle for all Argentinian Spanish.

I’m not very familiar with IG, but every now and then someone recommends me some cool accounts.

The Argentinian Dictionary is not your average dictionary. Literal translations of our more ingenious slang phrases.

Argentwinos is an account that features two American-Argentinian twins that do a great job at explaining our more obscure every day phrases.

Pampa Direct will grant you access to all Argentinian products, from mate essentials, to alfajores or asado accesories.

Same with Argentinazo.

Nice to visit these websites even when you’re not planning on buying anything.
