Just like in English, this is an expression that we use to simplify a story we are telling. We place it in the last sentence or somewhere near the end of our tale.
Look at this example:
-Che, ¿qué tal estuvo la reunión con Santarelli?
-Bien, hablamos como dos horas y nos fuimos un poco por las ramas, pero bien.
-Bueno, pero contame un poco de qué hablaron…
-Es que hablamos de cualquier cosa, la verdad. Viste que empieza a hablar y no para. Pero bueno, para hacerla corta me dijo que está de acuerdo.
