COPADO is definitely a word you should incorporate to your Argentinian Spanish arsenal. It’s another multi-purpose word (like DALE, the famous CHE, and the ilustrous CARAJO, just to name a few) that can be used in different ways to express different meanings.
As it’s a participle (of origins I cannot trace) it should be used in its feminine/masculine or singular/plural forms.
#1 COPADO as ‘great’
One typical use of COPADO is replacing positive description words with it.
-¿Qué tal tus vacaciones?
-Muy copadas, conocí bocha de lugares. La pasé bárbaro.
-¿Te gustó la última peli de Chris Nolan?
-Sí, tiene algunas partes muy copadas.
#2 SER COPADO
If we use it to describe someone, it means they have a good vibe.
- Meli es muy copada, siempre tiene buen humor.
- Mi jefe es muy copado. No tiene historia con nada.
#3 ESTAR COPADO [con algo]
When we combine COPADO with the verb ESTAR, we mean that we are in a moment of great engagement with something.
- Estoy muy copado con un canal de cocina de YouTube que tiene muchas recetas fáciles.
#4 COPARSE [con algo]
As a pronominal verb, it’s also very frequent. One possibility is when you got hooked with something.
- Me copé con las pelis de Guy Ritchie. Estoy mirándome todas.
The other possible use is when you want to check with someone if they’d like to join you in a plan:
- ¿Te copás con unas birras hoy?
#5 ME COPA like ME GUSTA
Basically, Me copa means Me gusta in a more fancy way.
-¿Te gusta el reggae?
-Sí, me re copa
