Hey! So good to have you here.
I have a weakness for making introductions to everything. I can’t explain exactly why, but there is something real-lifey about greeting people when they walk in.
Well, as you already know, this is the blog section of my website. In a way, everything started here. When I launched the site, the blog was the soul of Venture Out. If you’re an outsider to SEO and to Google’s mysterious logic for deciding which pages to show, a solid blog is your best bet to be found.
I decided I’d write in English because 1) it was fun to write about Argentinian Spanish in English 2) I assumed this way I’d reach more people, not just those who already knew enough Spanish to read comfortably in Spanish, and 3) it gave me a great excuse to practice my English.
I was not an absolute newcomer to the world of “being found online”, but still In the first year of blogging I learned it was much less straightforward than it seemed. You see, when you start a website, you’re like an island, disconnected from everyone and everything else. Your first priority is to build bridges, to make connections that give your site a good reputation.
Easier said than done. You essentially need to outrank “competitors” by showing Google that, for each topic, your content is more comprehensive, more trustworthy, and more helpful.
For over two years I posted consistently about different aspects of Argentinian Spanish, and little by little the website started to get traction. It was much less linear than you or I would expect, but hey, that’s the story for most businesses, right?
The diagnose that I confirm with my blog, with my newsletter, with anything longer than a line is that most people won’t read it.
In the meantime, I:
- started with Traé Alfajores (my podcast)
- got myself entangled on IG
- created some cool resources for AR Spanish enthusiasts
- made the leap to YouTube
- met students from all over the world
All things considered, I’d say the blog has been a wonderful space for observation and reflection, as many blogs used to be before AI took over.
As of today, the blog gets less attention because I’m focusing on my YouTube channel, and also because I feel I’ve said enough here. And honestly, with every blog post and every newsletter I’ve written, I’ve also learned that most people won’t read anything longer than a line.
(So if you made it this far, my friend, you’re already ahead of most people.)
Anyway, if you’re looking for insights into Argentinian Spanish, you won’t run short.
Take your time to explore the “blog menu”, and hopefully you’ll find something that sparks your interest.
If you need anything, I’ll be around.
¡Bienvenido/a!
